The opening round of the 2009 European Ladies championship took place last weekend in Krzeszowice, Poland. The 12-section course was tight and technical on rocks and steep banks. It had rained the previous day making the first lap quite slippery but drying out for the second lap.

MRS BVM Sherco rider, Becky Cook put in a good ride to start the championship. Becky’s first lap score of six, included some slack dabs, but a good ride on the most difficult eleventh put her in second position, five marks behind Laia Sanz and two marks in front of Iris Kramer. Becky set out more confident and relaxed on the second lap and this showed as she proceeded to clean everything except the tough eleventh, where just the one mark was lost. Her second lap score of one was equal to Laia, who finished the trial on two marks lost, Becky maintained second spot on seven, with Iris finishing third on fifteen.

Becky’s next competition is this weekend at round two of the British Ladies championship.

Becky Cook (MRS BVM Sherco) competed in the SSDT for the first time this year, in what was the wettest year on record. However, she coped with the conditions well and soon got into the different riding style required, and after the first day was leading the ladies class by eighteen marks. This is where she stayed all week gradually increasing her lead to finish nearly one hundred marks in front of Emma Bristow. Becky also won a first class award for finishing in 80th position overall.

Becky Cook made the perfect start to the 2009 British Ladies Championship with a dominant performance on her MRS BVM Sherco. The Lincoln ladies trial was held in bright sunshine, with twelve tight and technical sections to complete three times. Becky got off to a shaky start with a nervous dab on the first section, but soon settled down, she took another steadying dab on section five, before cleaning the remaining seven sections. Her closest challenger, Donna Fox finished the lap on fifteen, giving Becky a healthy lead. On lap two she posted another score of two, this time losing a dab apiece on sections three and eight, with Donna losing a further ten. Becky then went completely clean on the final lap to finish on a total of four marks lost with Donna posting another lap of ten to finish second on thirty five and Emma Bristow, third on forty four.

Becky's next event will be the Scottish Six Days trial next week, where she competes for the first time.
