British Ladies Championship Round 8

The final round of the British Ladies championship was held last weekend on a sunny Isle of Wight at Shorwell Chalk Pit. With the title going down to the last round between Becky Cook and Joanne Coles the tension and pressure was immense.

MRS BVM Sherco rider, Becky started off very strong and led the first lap right to the last section with some inspirational rides and showing everyone why she has six British titles under her belt. The final section was a 6ft angled step up a steep climb and across a camber. Becky cleared the wall effortlessly but then missed the next set of markers! Neither, Becky or her minder, Craig Talbot could quite believe what had just happened and were gutted to say the least, all the hard work on the first lap had been wasted.

However there were still two laps to go and with plenty of encouragement from Craig, family and friends who had come to watch she went round the next lap with solid rides to come in only one mark behind Joanne going into the last lap.

Becky was almost faultless cleaning section after section that caused problems for all riders on earlier laps, she captivated the following crowd with some awesome rides under pressure knowing it was now or never. With only one mark lost on the final lap, Becky did everything she could to pull back the marks from that disastrous five, but it wasn't to be. The final scores at the end of the day had both Becky and Joanne on twenty six with a tie on most cleans but Joanne had eight ones and Becky seven.

Becky was obviously bitterly disappointed but had put up a good fight after loosing the first four rounds, and then pulling it back to a last round decider was pretty impressive. She would like to Congratulate Joanne and Thank minder and boyfriend, Craig, MRS, BVM Moto and everyone who has helped and supported her throughout the year.
