MRS BVM Sherco rider, Becky Cook secured her second win in the British Ladies Championship in Richmond, North Yorkshire last weekend. Becky had a steady start on the two sections set out on the edge of the river, a much needed big dab on the first section, followed by a clean in the second. Onto the banks of section three where she lost three slack marks, from then on it was mainly odd dabs. She finished the lap on ten marks with championship leader, Joanne Coles on eleven, but it was Emma Bristow leading the way at this point on five marks. Becky’s second lap was much improved with her feeling a lot more confident on the bike she cleaned all but two sections. The loose gully of section four she got slightly offline and the bike slipped out from underneath her resulting in a five but Becky kept focused loosing just one more dab that lap on the slippery rocks of seven. This put her on six for the lap. Encouraged by her minder, Craig Talbot and helpers, Mark and Gareth Talbot, Becky was confident she could take the win loosing just two marks on the final lap again on section seven. Both Becky and Joanne tied on eighteen marks overall and had the same number of ones, twos, threes and fives so it came down to who ever had the best score on the first section. Becky’s much needed big dab won it for her as Joanne took a three here. This result puts Becky back in contention for the championship with two rounds left to go.
