2010 Scottish Six Days Trial
Written by Becky Cook

MRS Sherco rider, Becky Cook completed her second Scottish Six Days Trial last week coming home with a first class award and Best Lady award after a close week long battle with Emma Bristow.

In complete contrast to last year when the weather was atrocious, the Scottish Highlands were blessed with blazing sunshine throughout the six days of competition.

Becky finished Monday with eight time penalties as the time limit proved to be very tight but she was still four marks ahead of Emma. The next two days didn’t go so well for Becky as struggled to find a good rhythm in the natural sections and by the end of the third day she was now eleven marks down on Emma. However there were still three days to go and Becky was confident she could pull it back, supported and encouraged by minder, Craig Talbot and his family.
Thursday is the longest day of the week with a twenty eight mile ride out to the first section. Becky excelled in these tough conditions though and finished the day on half the score of Emma and move back into the lead in the Ladies class. Friday was Becky’s early day and by the end of the day Becky’s lead was cut to just five marks again making for a very tense final day on Saturday! She held her nerve though to finish the week as Best Lady eight marks in front of Emma and in ninety first place out of two hundred and seventy starters.
