British Ladies Trials Champion, Becky Cook (MRS BVM Sherco) continued her successful season finishing runner-up in the Women’s World Championship and winning the Trial des Nations.
Round two of the Women’s World Championship took place in France in Isola 2000, a ski resort in the Alps. Becky had to settle for a hard fought third place after recording a slack five on the first lap. Heavy rain then came on the second lap making the sections very slippery but Becky’s main rivals Laia Sanz and Iris Kramer had finished before the conditions had detoriated too much.
The final round was held six days later in the Italian spa town of Darfo Boario Terme. Becky put in a determined and confident ride to take the runner-up spot, with only one section causing any problems all day. These results over the two weekends together with the second place recorded in the first round back in July had secured Becky runner-up in the 2009 Women’s World Championship.
The following day the Ladies Trial des Nations was held over a similar course. With conditions being dry and grippy, no slack marks could be afforded with section twelve being the decider. The British team, Becky Cook, Emma Bristow and Joanne Coles performed fantastically here with Becky being one of only two riders to clean it, the other being World Champion, Laia Sanz. It was a tense finish to the trial as Great Britain came home one mark in front of Spain to reclaim the title they won back to back in 2006 and 2007.
Becky will be competing next weekend in the final round of the British Ladies Championship on her home ground on the Isle of Wight.
