Becky Cook (290 MRS BVM Sherco) took the win at the second round of the British Ladies Championship, but only just after a poor performance and some unlucky fives from the reigning champion. Her day started well but quickly went downhill when she reached section eight, when her front wheel tucked under after she had cleaned the difficult big slab. Several more slack rides left Becky down in third position, with Donna Fox leading and Emma Bristow in third. The second and third laps were much the same as Becky suffered another two fives. One on the final section when she was deemed to have taken a marker out. Her second lap of ten had pulled Becky back up into the lead, where she just managed to hang on to win by one mark from Emma. The championship resumes this weekend with rounds 3 and 4, run by Scarborough & DMC and Eboracum MCC. |
