Next weekend, Becky travels up to Scotland for her first attempt at the Scottish Six Days Trial, then returns home for two days before heading off to Poland for the opening round of the European Ladies Championship.

Check back for full reports and results.

European Ladies Championship Round 3

MRS BVM Sherco rider, Becky Cook secured runner-up position in the 2009 European Ladies Championship after finishing second in the final round at Tanvald, Czech Republic.

Persistent rain throughout the day made the sections quite slippery but actually made for a better trial. Becky had a steady first lap, taking a dab on the second section, she then cleaned the next six up to section nine where she had another dab but was given a two for touching a tree with her shoulder. Becky and World Champion, Laia Sanz were the only riders to get through this section for less than a five all day. A three went on the next muddy section and on the final long and technical rocky section. Her first lap of nine put her in second place with Laia going ‘clean’ and Iris Kramer on twenty two.

On the second lap the sections had become even more slippery as mud dragged onto the rocks. Things didn’t start great for Becky as her chain got hooked off on the second section, this being her only failure of the trial. Several three’s and a couple of dabs gave her a score of nineteen for the second lap. Laia had pushed on from the start finishing well ahead of the rest avoiding the worst of the conditions and completed the trial on five marks, Becky finished in second quite a way back on twenty eight but well ahead of Iris Kramer in third on forty two.

The British Ladies Championship resumes next weekend, August 9th, which Becky currently leads by nineteen points, so could wrap up her sixth consecutive title with one round to go.

British Ladies Championship Round 7

The final round of the British Ladies Championship took place last weekend on Becky Cook’s home ground on the Isle of Wight, where once again she finished on top.

Riding her MRS BVM Sherco, Becky’s first lap didn’t go particularly well as she got off line on section three on the first lap and ended up crashing back down the cliff face. A two on the awkward rocks of section six and a three on the logs at ten didn’t help either and she ended the first lap on twelve with Donna Fox close behind on fifteen.

Becky’s second lap went better only dropping four, another two on the section six and a slack two on section nine. Donna lapped for thirteen giving Becky a healthy lead going into the final lap.

She finally cleaned section six this time but had a dab on sections nine and ten for a lap of two. Her final score of eighteen was good enough for the win to complete her unbeaten run in this year’s championship. Donna finished second on forty two with Emma Bristow third on fifty six.

Womens World Championship & Trial des Nations

British Ladies Trials Champion, Becky Cook (MRS BVM Sherco) continued her successful season finishing runner-up in the Women’s World Championship and winning the Trial des Nations.

Round two of the Women’s World Championship took place in France in Isola 2000, a ski resort in the Alps. Becky had to settle for a hard fought third place after recording a slack five on the first lap. Heavy rain then came on the second lap making the sections very slippery but Becky’s main rivals Laia Sanz and Iris Kramer had finished before the conditions had detoriated too much.

The final round was held six days later in the Italian spa town of Darfo Boario Terme. Becky put in a determined and confident ride to take the runner-up spot, with only one section causing any problems all day. These results over the two weekends together with the second place recorded in the first round back in July had secured Becky runner-up in the 2009 Women’s World Championship.

The following day the Ladies Trial des Nations was held over a similar course. With conditions being dry and grippy, no slack marks could be afforded with section twelve being the decider. The British team, Becky Cook, Emma Bristow and Joanne Coles performed fantastically here with Becky being one of only two riders to clean it, the other being World Champion, Laia Sanz. It was a tense finish to the trial as Great Britain came home one mark in front of Spain to reclaim the title they won back to back in 2006 and 2007.

Becky will be competing next weekend in the final round of the British Ladies Championship on her home ground on the Isle of Wight.

Womens World Championship Round 1

Last weekend saw the opening round of the Women’s World championship in France in the town of St. Michel de Maurienne. It was very hot all weekend with not much breeze or shade to keep riders cool. All the sections were marked out in the same areas as for the men the following day which made it very hard for the organisers as most of the terrain was all or nothing which resulted in the hardest and largest sections ever to be used in the Women’s championship! However, MRS BVM Sherco rider, Becky Cook was very happy with the sections after walking them the day before and did not want any sections to be eased for the following day’s competition. Becky started well with a clean on the opening section which took marks off most riders, followed by a trio of two’s on the next three sections. For the rest of the lap it seemed to be either clean or five for Becky and several mistakes proved costly as she broke the tape on one section and took out a marker on another. She completed the first lap on thirty three marks. Her second lap proved much the same, with some brilliant rides on section two and the big step on section five but once again spoiled by several fives to finish on a slightly improved thirty marks which put her in fourth place at the end of the day.
