Round 5 of the British Ladies Championship was held at Dob park in Yorkshire. The day started off overcast and windy as riders were setting off to complete three laps of twelve tricky sections set mainly in slippery rocky streams and beck’s. Section one was a nice easy opener with a drop down into the stream with an angled exit out over some slippery rocks which took a few nervous marks off the championship riders but MRS BVM Sherco rider, Becky Cook took the only clean which was a good start to the day. Section two was Becky’s worst section of the day starting with a tight right hand turn up a very narrow stream, only just wide enough to fit handlebars and foot pegs through. Half of her overall score of eight was lost on this section. They then moved onto a couple of sections in the trees on loose soil and dry polished rocks which caused no problems for Becky. With most of the other sections in the slippery streams there was no guaranteed cleans and no section she could relax on as an inch off line would cause an easy dab or even a 5! One of the hardest of the day was section nine, a climb up the stream then tight turn onto the bank then back in stream before some narrow technical turns up and out of the section. Becky took a brand new line here that no one else tried to follow, it was a more straight forward line but involved going up some bigger rock faces and bank which she rode perfect every lap to take a much needed win ahead of Joanne Coles and Emma Bristow. |

MRS Sherco rider, Becky Cook completed her second Scottish Six Days Trial last week coming home with a first class award and Best Lady award after a close week long battle with Emma Bristow.
In complete contrast to last year when the weather was atrocious, the Scottish Highlands were blessed with blazing sunshine throughout the six days of competition.
Becky finished Monday with eight time penalties as the time limit proved to be very tight but she was still four marks ahead of Emma. The next two days didn’t go so well for Becky as struggled to find a good rhythm in the natural sections and by the end of the third day she was now eleven marks down on Emma. However there were still three days to go and Becky was confident she could pull it back, supported and encouraged by minder, Craig Talbot and his family. Thursday is the longest day of the week with a twenty eight mile ride out to the first section. Becky excelled in these tough conditions though and finished the day on half the score of Emma and move back into the lead in the Ladies class. Friday was Becky’s early day and by the end of the day Becky’s lead was cut to just five marks again making for a very tense final day on Saturday! She held her nerve though to finish the week as Best Lady eight marks in front of Emma and in ninety first place out of two hundred and seventy starters.

The third round of the British Ladies Championship was held last Sunday by Lincoln MC at Manton Quarry, on what turned out to be a hot, sunny day with no shade and little breeze.
MRS Sherco rider, Becky Cook hasn’t had the best of luck this year in the British Championship and was eager to get back into it. Unfortunately it seems like Becky’s bad luck still isn’t over as she stalled the bike in the first section and could not keep her feet on the pegs resulting in a five, where all the other riders had little difficulty on. Then on section two which was also an easy section the bike stalled again but Becky managed to keep her feet up this time for a clean.
After a very shaky start to say the least Becky never really recovered and was five marks down on the leader after the first lap. Her next two laps were much improved with her recording the best lap of the day on her final lap, a loss of just two marks. She was disappointed not to have a ‘clean’ lap as those two marks were lost in the easy part of the sections. The final scores were Joanne Coles on sixteen, Becky on twenty two and Emma Bristow on thirty eight.
Becky will be riding the Victory trial this weekend as final preparation for the SSDT where she’s hoping for a good ride and better weather than last year!
